About this Painting

Seems I'm always intrigued by what's around that next bend, or just over that hill, and wondering where that lane leads. My curiosity usually leads me to discover more wonders in nature, and finding interesting subjects to paint. When I seen this little bridge and the lane going up the hill and out of vision, the first thing that crossed my mind was the classic song by Patti Page, titled,"Cross Over The Bridge". The scene had all the elements I look for in a painting and right then, I knew had to paint it.

*It worked out well, as I entered this painting into the 2021 Annual Indiana Heritage Arts Show, held at the Brown County Art Gallery, in Nashville, Indiana, and it won three awards, the "Bronze Brush, Zee Hirst Award in Memory of Bradley Hirst", the "Indiana Heritage Arts Directors Purchase Award", and as a particular honor it also won the "Peoples Choice Award". sition, and a pleasure to paint. I was so happy I got to preserve it in a painting before it disappears forever.
